From Chester Combs
To all those who touched my heart - shared their thoughts with me years ago or simply called me classmate or friend:
the impact that you had on each of us, our small world & the rest of the people who made our day better. Please be of good cheer - enjoy the time with your families & thank God for his blessings granted to us. I am not a theologian, but I do have a huge amount of gratitude for God & his son Jesus Christ. It works real well for me. Reach out - it does not hurt. Remember that this special day started with the birth of a wonderful child.

an ornament to remember
If you were able to join us in June for our 50th reunion, you received one of these ornaments. Hopefully it is on your tree this Christmas. Merry Christmas to you all!

A new note came in.
Jan, I agree with Chester. It saddens me so much to be losing our classmates yet there are so many blessings in each of our lives, I sincerely hope. I would love to hear some of the happy things in your life. I will keep you in my prayers because I also know we all have struggles everyday. May God richly bless each one of you. With much love and gratitude for being my friends.
Tina
Just a little note
I have been getting all kinds of emails back since I posted the news about our loss of Lynn Allen. The following one really sounded good. I also take care of the blog for my husband's class. Since they had their 50th class reunion, 99% of the new posts are related to the loss of classmates. That seems to be the only news or information sent to me so that is what I post. Please look at the following information and let it inspire you as it did me.

A good time was had by all!!
In April of 2019 a group of CHS graduates of 1970 led by John Runkle got together to plan their 50th class reunion in 2020. We finally got to celebrate that event on May 20-21 of 2022. The events were interesting for us all and go basically like this.

What a great weekend!!
Oh What a Night . . . or two!!
As expected, those of us who actually got to attend our 50th + high school reunion were not disappointed.
Hopefully those that were able to come were able to see long lost friends and get reacquainted with others. It was truly great to see how things have changed for us all. Hopefully we will have a solution for photos that were taken to be added to one site so that all may see. Many people had camera phones so we were able to capture the weekend from many different perspectives.
Thank you John Runkle for keeping us all going and getting to a satisfying weekend of fun. Many dates have come and gone but we made it!

New information about our 50th
Today is June 7th, 2021. Yesterday it was decided to share the weekend of September 17th and 18th, 2021 with the class of 1971 and have our own reunion. We have made a couple of changes as to the size of the events but basically the events are the same. One change is that all events will be held at the Holman House on Broad Street in Ozark. We really need to know if you are planning to try to come so that we can make better plans. No costs have been decided on at this time but they will be due at the door. One price for all or one event. We are doing our best to resurrect this reunion after all we have been through this year and two cancellations. Please do everything you can to help us in this adventure and we will be very grateful. Please communicate with John Runkle or Jan Barkett Lisenby. Interested classmates will be meeting again on July 11 at 2 p.m. at the Holman House. Please let us know your response before that time if you are able. John is planning to email and snail mail everyone he can with this information. Please respond to his requests.

New information as of January 25th, 2021
Classmates –
Hope you have had a safe and healthy start to the New Year.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for everyone and will continue to affect all of us in the year ahead.
We had set a tentative date back in July to hold the “50+1” Reunion for the Class of 70 this April 16-18. At that time we thought the situation would be stable enough to ensure everyone had the opportunity to participate without any risk to safety or health.
However, based on the current situation and the projections for the vaccination program, this spring is still too early for us to get folks together. Therefore, we are going to postpone any plans for a time to celebrate our reunion and spend quality time together until the situation is stabilized.
We’ll be sending out refund checks this week for the registration you submitted. Once we have a better idea on when and how best to celebrate, we’ll start fresh with establishing costs and registration requirements.
We will continue to stay in touch via email and will keep our blog site ( https://carrollhighschoolclass1970.blogspot.com ) updated with information about our plans.
Even though we won’t be getting together this spring, I hope you all continue to stay in touch with each other.
Please keep us updated with any changes in your address, email, and phone number; and any special updates that occur for you and your family in the year ahead.
We all still look forward to the chance to meet with each other face-to-face and enjoy the time of fellowship and to get reacquainted with lost friends.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincerely – Class of 70 Reunion Planning Committee

A sad loss
Of course all of our losses are sad but this one got a bit close. Bob returned to the area after he retired. He got involved in the planning of our 50th class reunion and quickly became important to the committee. He handled the Treasurer's job and along with John Runkle took the bull by the horn and went for it. Last February the committee had to make a hard decision to postpone our 50th for one year because of Covid-19. Bob was very supportive of our planning 50+1. I am sorry to report that Bob fell to the problem. The next few paragraphs are copied from Searcy Funeral in Enterprise, Alabama.
Robert (Bob) Nevin Adams, world citizen and US diplomat of Enterprise, AL passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020. He was a loving husband and father to his family. Full of energy, a passion for life and bringing laughter to those around him, Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bob joined the US Army after graduating from Carroll High School in Ozark, Al in 1970. He proudly served his country for 2 years. Bob was recruited by the United States, State Department, and spent the next 40 years living and working in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, November 16, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Enterprise with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends on Monday at the church from 11:00 AM until service time.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brody Kafer and Parker Bradley.
Survivors include his wife, Citi Adams, Enterprise, AL; 2 daughters, Amber Bradley (Bert), Calera, AL, Megan Glasscock (Matt), Calera, AL; grandchildren, Gibson Bradley, Nevin Kafer, Carter and Will Glasscock; two brothers, Thomas Adams (Barbara), Madison, AL, John Adams (Leigh), Huntsville, AL.
In lieu of flowers, please show your support by contributing to the Lottie Moon International Mission Offering. Contributions should be sent to the First Baptist Church of Enterprise, 302 N. Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330. Please note in memory of Bob Adams on your donation.
